Racing towards new content

Psyonix and Epic Games have fully revealed the next season to their high-flying, high-octane, record breaking multiplayer car soccer game Rocket League, and it’s looking to be one of the best yet. Start your engines because Season 3 is themed around racing, the debut trailer released two days ago shows off NASCAR and F1 content featuring 2 brand new cars, and a redesign to the DFH Stadium complete with a racetrack around the border of the field.

As with all new Rocket League Seasons, Competitive ranks reset for you to climb back up the ranks to prove your on-the-field skills, with new rewards for each rank. There are new weekly and seasonal challenges that net you customization items and XP, even more if you own Rocket Pass Premium. And a new series of tournament rewards are replacing last season’s as well. If previous seasons are anything to go by, a new blueprint series should appear in-game a week or two after the launch of Season 3 on April 7th. So your after match results will be a little more exciting if you’re like me and tend to drop credits on unique cosmetics because you’re addicted to car designing in a game about soccer. That’s a sentence I’d never thought I’d say before Rocket League was a thing.

That’s not all that’s speeding into Rocket League with Season 3, a brand new Rocket Pass with 70 more tiers of items to unlock, focused around the racing theme. The trailer for the pass dropped today and features the song “Endgame” by Bossfight, a new entry to Rocket League’s Radio, that really sets the tone for this season and makes the trailer that much more epic. Free items are available on the free track of the rocket pass per usual and premium owners not only get access to the premium track that offers an item on each level up, but also access to the pro tiers after level 70 and bonus XP allowing you to really hit the gas and tier up fast! Rocket Pass Premium members get the all new Dominus hitbox car, Tyranno, upon purchase of the pass too! Of which I’m very excited for, being a Dominus user. Pro Tiers on the pass are getting tuned up in Season 3 as well. Now you can purchase pro tiers once again, but this time you’re able to see the next 30 tiers of rewards, that way if there’s something you want you can see how many levels you need to reach that item. There’s no doubt in my mind that this change was made to help nudge players into buying pro tires because they see an item they don’t want to miss out on in the higher levels, but it’s also a cool feature that allows players to know what they’re working towards. Some rocket pass items are shown on Rocket League’s website, these include customization options like multiple racing helmet toppers, traffic cone boost, checkered flag boost, animated decals, and racing themed wheels and decals. A checkered flag goal explosion and the popular Huntress decal for the upgraded version of the Tyranno car lie at rank 70.

Season 3 begins on April 7th so make sure to get your Season 2 competitive rewards completed and tier up that Rocket Pass before it’s gone for good, as we enter the final lap before Season 3 of Rocket League.
